Calculated Columns: Rule builder

The Calculated Columns Rule Builder is a visual, no-code tool designed to make creating conditional columns accessible to everyone in Domo. Instead of typing out complex CASE WHEN formulas in DQL (Domo's Beast Mode SQL), you can construct guided IF/THEN rules using intuitive dropdown menus. This experience is seamlessly integrated across Domo, appearing wherever calculated fields are created including Analyzer, App Studio, and Beast Mode Manager.

With the Rule Builder, you can stack rules top-to-bottom: simply select a Text, Number, or Date column, choose an operator (such as Is, Is between, Is in, or date ranges), specify your output values, and set a catch-all "Else" rule at the end. Because rules are saved as JSON, your columns remain fully editable within the visual builder at any time rather than locking into raw SQL.
