Domo Quarterly Customer Newsletter: October 2026

Welcome to this quarter's customer newsletter! Inside, you’ll find customer spotlights, feature updates, the latest Domo content, and our best tips for hacking the Domo stack.

We’re writing in US English, but as always, we want to give a warm shoutout to our incredible global community. No matter where you’re reading from, we truly appreciate you and are excited to share these insights with readers around the world.

Welcome to the Progress Family!

Just over a week ago, Progress officially welcomed Domo's AI and data platform business into the family, and with it, welcomed you. Together, Progress and Domo bring complementary strengths in data management, analytics and AI, expanding our ability to serve you across your entire enterprise data foundation. Stay tuned in the quarters ahead for more on the innovations this partnership will unlock. Welcome to the Progress community, we're excited about what's ahead.

Domo Connections is on the road: Find your city

Domo has hit the road, and we’d love to see you at an upcoming stop.

We’ve already connected with customers in Austin, Dallas, and Salt Lake City, and there are still seven more stops on our North American tour.

Connections is our in-person Domo Community meetup, bringing together local customers, data leaders, and the Domo team for a day of learning, networking, and real conversations about what’s working (and what’s next) with Domo.

Whether you’re looking to sharpen your skills, swap stories with fellow Domo users in your region, or get a first look at the latest AI and product updates, Connections is where it happens.

What to expect:

  • Keynotes from Domo executives
  • Real customer stories and use cases
  • AI + product updates from the Domo team
  • Hands-on technical workshops
  • Networking lunch and cocktail reception

Find the stop closest to you and save your spot. We’d love to see you there. Is your city on the list?

Hack the Domo Stack

This quarter, we’re sharing four best practices for building with Domo MCP, drawn from how our own data team learned to work MCP overall:

1. Set your standards before the team builds much

Decide how folders are organized, what your naming rules are, and what tests have to pass before anything deploys. Without shared conventions, several people building through MCP quickly turns into a wild-west of one-off datasets and apps only their author can decipher a week later. Codifying those rules up front is what lets you describe what you want, let the model build it, and trust everyone else can read and reuse the result.

2. Start with the harness

Run your model inside a coding environment like Claude Code or Cursor rather than pointing it at your data raw. The harness comes with its own rules for producing decent code, so you inherit a baseline of quality before you write a single convention of your own.

3. Reach for MCP first, fall back to the API

Use the MCP tools directly wherever they cover the job. Where they fall short, drop to the direct Domo API or write your own skill against it. MCP is simply a governed entry point into the same Domo APIs a developer could call by hand, so nothing is off-limits when you need to go lower.

4. Invest in reuse

Package the pieces you’d otherwise rebuild—like a UI element, a bit of dataset logic into reusable components and shared scaffolding, so nobody assembles them twice. Our team calls these “snacks”: already-compiled code that does the same thing every time and installs on request. It’s a practice worth prioritizing early: once you start sharing scaffolding, the work gets easier and cleaner, because you're building the same stuff and deploying the same way.

Customer spotlight: How Yum! Brands is rewriting the BI playbook with AI

When you’re powering Taco Bell, KFC, Pizza Hut, and thousands of locations across 150 countries, “business as usual” isn’t an option. Neither is waiting a quarter for a dashboard.

That's why we’re excited to share this conversation with Ben McClave, Principal Business Intelligence Analyst at Yum! Brands—a fellow Domo customer redefining what a small-but-mighty BI team can accomplish with an AI-first approach.

Ben walks through how his team transformed a single requirement meeting into a fully working, vibe-coded dashboard in days. From there, it was dropped straight into Domo's Pro Code Editor and wired to a Snowflake Semantic Layer, proving you can move at startup speed without sacrificing enterprise-grade trust.

What you'll hear:

  • How AI-first workflows are compressing BI timelines from quarters to days
  • How Ben's team is putting Domo's Pro Code Editor to work to operationalize rapid prototypes
  • Why a Snowflake Semantic Layer is the backbone of scalable, trustworthy insights
  • How a lean BI team delivers massive impact across a global restaurant empire

New podcast episode: Why your AI prototype falls apart at scale and how to fix it

AI can spin up a slick prototype in seconds, but a demo that looks ready and a system that actually ships are two very different things.

In the latest episode of Domo's podcast, Governed Data for Agentic AI, Chris Willis, Chief Design Officer at Domo, sits down with Dan Hendriksen, who leads Domo's Advanced Customer Enablement (ACE) program. Drawing from hundreds of customer AI projects, Dan shares the patterns that separate the builds that ship from the ones that stall.

Together, they dig into “plausibility theater,” the trap of building something that looks like it should work but skips everything real systems need: user volume, concurrency, security and edge cases. They also explore the bigger shifts AI is setting off, from the rise of curious generalists to the long tail of low-value problems finally worth solving.

After listening, you'll learn:

  • What "plausibility theater" is and how to avoid it
  • Why the planning conversation beats jumping straight to code
  • How roles are shifting toward curious generalists
  • When the right answer is a simple automation, not an app

Listen to the episode.

While you're at it, don't forget to download our Agentic State of AI guide for more insights on building AI that actually ships.
