Domo’s new Magic ETL engine makes Magic ETL even easier to use and much more efficient. With expanded formula capabilities, improved workflows, and more intuitive navigation, Magic ETL now handles even the most complex transformations with ease.

Improved user experience:

• Following complex DataFlows is more visually intuitive with colors and curved lines.
• Quickly find the tiles you need with the improved search and updated tile names.
• The Add Formula, Group By, and Filter Rows tiles provide new functionality with expression support—including case statements, time value of money, and statistical utility functions.
• With expression support, many complex DataFlows can be drastically simplified by utilizing the Add Formula tile.

Faster run times and efficiency improvements:

• Transforming large quantities of data in complex ways is much more efficient on the new Magic ETL engine—most flows can see up to a 4x reduction in runtime simply by upgrading.
• Reduce run times for DataFlows with append optimizations that avoid reprocessing some input rows by appending to existing output rows.
• Preventing duplicate column names on joined tables is now built into the workflow.

Less DataFlow maintenance and easier troubleshooting:

• Troubleshooting mismatched data types is easier with better error messaging, null handling, and data type classification.
• With notes on actions, it's much easier to annotate and explain what is happening in a DataFlow.
• You can now specify which columns should not be normalized when there are changes to a DataSet’s schema.
• No need for schema creation to power your R and Python scripts.
