Open Insurance

What if data was embedded into every partner experience?

Challenge:
Open Insurance struggled to deliver a consistent, secure analytics experience as its partner ecosystem expanded.
Solution:
Open Insurance combined its Snowflake data platform with Domo Everywhere to deliver scalable, embedded analytics through a single, governed framework.
Impact:
Open Insurance reduced partner analytics onboarding from weeks to less than a day, cut partner data queries by 60–70 percent, and tripled the number of partners accessing embedded analytics.
OPEN INSURANCE SCALES PARTNER INSIGHTS WITH DOMO EVERYWHERE.
Open Insurance is on a mission to make insurance more accessible and affordable by working with brands across Australia, New Zealand, and the UK to power the experience they deliver for their customers.
To help its partners deliver more value for motorists, homeowners, travelers, and other insurance buyers, the fintech company relies on Domo and Snowflake to collect and share critical performance data in real time.
“Having Domo seamlessly integrate with Snowflake allows us to leverage our existing data without re-architecting our entire data infrastructure. We’re going beyond our data foundation and creating intelligence for our partner ecosystem,” said Sarith Fernando, general manager of AI, data products, and analytics at Open Insurance.
Open Insurance provides embedded and digital-first insurance solutions for globally recognized brands across Australia, New Zealand, and the UK.
“We’re going beyond our data foundation and creating intelligence for our partner ecosystem.”

Overcoming challenges in scaling insight
Rather than sell insurance directly, Open Insurance relies on a partner-led model to power insurance products for established brands and startups alike. Open provides end-to-end technology solutions for acquisition, sales, payments, claims, and analytics, along with relationships with leading global underwriters, so that partners can embed new insurance products and marketplaces naturally into their existing customer experiences.
However, this means the company operates as the nexus point for multiple stakeholders. Each has their own expectations and measures of success, using different definitions for core metrics like sales, opportunities, and customer engagement. Open Insurance had to support those nuances while still maintaining consistency across its platform.
While it had a strong data foundation in the form of its Snowflake data platform, its previous approach for turning that data into consistent and secure partner-facing insights didn’t scale. Each new partner required custom-built dashboards that were difficult to create, maintain, and govern.
“We needed to find a better way than building a new solution every time we onboarded a new supplier or distributor, but at the same time be able to accommodate their specific needs,” said Rishin Patel, chief product officer at Open Insurance.
Delivering insights to 3x more partners
With Snowflake serving as its central data platform, Open Insurance added Domo as an analytics and visualization layer to turn raw data into accessible insight. The seamless integration between the two platforms meant the data team could easily extend analytics to partners without rebuilding its entire data architecture.
Instead of rebuilding and maintaining its analytics experience for each new partner, Open Insurance uses Domo Everywhere to securely deliver tailored views of the same analytics experience. Partners use embedded dashboards to instantly track how their insurance offerings are performing across sales, claims, and customer experience.

“Domo Everywhere lets us build one dashboard and then share it with many partners. Each partner only sees their own data,” said Jack Galati, data science and optimization lead at Open Insurance.
Before Domo, it used to take the company’s data team weeks to onboard a new partner with analytics. With Domo Everywhere, the company can begin sharing insights with a new partner in less than a day. Partners can log in, see their data, and explore it using their preferred approach without requiring extra customization support. Instead of spending time building and maintaining dashboards for each new partner, Open Insurance’s team can now focus on improving data quality, refining insights, and supporting expansion across new markets and products.
“The biggest change for us is how much time we’ve freed up,” Patel said. “We spend 60-70 percent less time dealing with partner queries about data definitions because it’s clear. It unlocked more trust with our partners. We’re not debating metrics anymore. We’re talking about opportunities.”
Domo Everywhere gives the company precise control over who can access what data and which analytics experiences. By making security and governance easy and consistent, the company ensures that every partner only accesses exactly what they need to see and nothing more.
“Domo gives us scalability and secure data sharing with our external parties in a well-governed format,” said Fernando.
Preparing for a future powered by AI insight
As onboarding became faster and governance more consistent, Open Insurance gained the ability to extend embedded analytics beyond a small group of high-value partners. Today, the company uses Domo Everywhere to make analytics a standard part of every partnership.
“We’ve tripled the number of partners that access our embedded analytics platform,” Galati said. “It’s our way of working with our partners to help them uplift their business, improve performance, and understand what the data is telling them.”
With a scalable, secure analytics foundation in place, Open Insurance is now exploring ways to expand how its partners can access insights with AI. The company envisions partners being able to ask questions in natural language, receive immediate answers, and leverage AI agents to make recommendations or take action.
“We don't want partners to have to wait for our insights. We want it to be at their fingertips. Domo AI is going to help push this accessibility forward in the future,” said Galati.
