Progress is a double-edged sword

Of course, AI’s growth doesn’t always benefit us. For every productivity boost, new risks emerge. Here’s a striking (and likely annoying) example: Americans receive around 109,444 robocalls each minute. This number is a reminder that AI can be wielded in ways that frustrate people and sometimes cross legal boundaries.  

The race to stay relevant

Our readers likely already sense that AI skills are becoming a standard expectation at work. The CEO of Zapier, for example, posted on X about how the company measures AI fluency, which they consider a job requirement, for different functions.

This push is rooted in the fact that AI fundamentally changing how we think about productivity and learning. Every minute, employees save 1.23 million hours on average by using AI tools. This massive boost that adds up to more than 140 years of reclaimed productivity every hour.

At the same time, curiosity about AI skills is surging. Six people enroll in generative AI courses every 60 seconds, reflecting the growing appetite for expertise in this rapidly evolving field.

The numbers don't lie

The overall pace of AI-driven activity keeps accelerating. Compared to last year, global spending on AI every minute has jumped from $293,000 to over $1.21 million. Creative output flows constantly, with 23,611 images generated using AI every minute. Supporting all this growth, 1.9 million computer chips are sold every 60 seconds to power our expanding digital ecosystem.
